ArcStation is an independent project designed and manufactured in Ukraine. It’s a one-person project, built as my first step into retro-console hardware: I wanted an ODE that’s genuinely easy to install and doesn’t require the kinds of delicate, hard-to-reverse steps common to many PS1 ODE installs (fine-pitch soldering, lifting pins, removing components, or modifying the case). The focus is a clean, reversible installation that keeps the console as close to stock as possible — so you can enjoy the upgrade without permanently changing the hardware.

Unlike most ODEs that interface with the console over a digital bus and operate on decoded data, ArcStation recreates the analog signal normally produced by laser reflections from the disc’s pits and lands. Because it behaves like an optical pickup at the signal level, it can work across all PlayStation 1 revisions.
